Letter to Church

RCC Family,

As we continue to grow as a family there will be times that God speaks to us about particular areas of our life with Him and each other. I believe this is one of those times. We are fortunate to be a church that desires to be led by Him even if that means being challenged by the way we are currently leading our lives and running the church.

When it comes to giving our resources and trusting God to provide, I know that many of us have been hurt in this area by the church. However, God will never hurt us and God will never take advantage of us. We need to continue to be stretched in this area of our lives if we are going to continue to grow with Him individually and as a church.  As a church, we are continually seeking  growth in every area of our lives and ministry with Jesus Christ.

Please know we are willing to share with you how we are spending the money you entrust to God. We would be more than happy to show you our financial books and our budgets. We have a Leadership team that approves the departmental budgets, a Finance committee that advises and guides our staff, and a CFO that manages and tracks our spending. We have these groups in place to ensure that we are stewarding your resources well  and in a way that is consistent with the vision of our staff and leadership.

It is a privilege and blessing to lead RCC and I am very thankful for the people God has called along for the journey. This journey requires us to not only participate in the ministry God is doing through RCC but also to carry the burdens of our church together. We have had an incredible response to the volunteering needs of the church as we have grown in different ministries and outreach opportunities in our community. However, in the area of financial giving we have struggled. The Lord wants us to grow in this area.

We have been fortunate over the years to have a small group of people in the church who carry the majority of the financial load. However, this has kept the rest of the church from their responsibility and privilege of giving and trusting God with their finances. We feel like RCC is in a season where God wants to challenge and grow us in our understanding and practice of giving our finances to Him.

This will look different for us all, and RCC wants to continue to be a resource to help people find freedom in every area of their life, including giving. Therefore, we have put together this packet of information as a resource to help you, no matter where you are on the journey of giving. You will  also find my talk “Obedience, Faith and Giving: The Big Blue Catapult” included in the packet. Please make sure to listen or watch this talk. I believe it clearly communicates where we are as a church and what God wants to communicate to us in regard to giving as we move forward. We have a list of several great websites and resources  that we hope you will use, but ultimately we know that the Holy Spirit is the only one who can bring us freedom in this area. We are committed to walking with you and praying for you as we find freedom together.

Thanks again for being a part of RCC, we are more excited than ever about what God is saying to us and planning for us as a church.
